thumbnail Hello,

The Italy international played under the Northern Irishman during his time at Chelsea and Swansea and is now looking forward to doing so again

Fabio Borini has admitted that the presence of Brendan Rodgers at Anfield made joining Liverpool an easy decision.

The Italy international had previously worked with the Northern Irishman at Chelsea and Swansea so, when the Reds came calling earlier this month, the forward needed little time to make up his mind over whether to leave Roma after just one season at the Stadio Olimpico.

"It [the deal] was done very quickly because I knew the coach and I knew I had his respect," the 21-year-old told Vocegiallorossa.

It has been suggested that Borini was keen to quit the Italian capital because he was not on good terms with a number of his Roma team-mates, but he has reiterated that there is no truth in those rumours.

"My relationship with the dressing room? In my opinion, it was good," the striker argued. "I've always been honest with everyone. Like when I said I wanted to stay at Roma, I really wanted to.

"[Roma was] definitely a positive experience for me, because I think I did well this year, even though I had some injuries.

"I think I made myself known as a player and also got in tune with the fans."

Borini, who was a part of the Azzurri's Euro 2012 squad, netted nine times in 24 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi last season.
