Feyenoord urge Aston Villa to make a decision over signing Vlaar

The managing director of the Dutch club insists that the matter must be resolved sooner rather than later and believes the Euro 2012 defender's agent will draw up a timeframe
The agent of Feyenoord defender Ron Vlaar will set Aston Villa a deadline to conclude transfer negotiations, according to the club's managing director.

The Dutch centre-half, who appeared at Euro 2012, reportedly met manager Paul Lambert for talks at Villa Park last weekend, with the new boss eager to draft in Vlaar for a reasonable fee.

Martin van Geel, Feyenoord's managing director has now confirmed that the defender's agent will inform the Midlands club of a potential cut-off point in talks, as he believes the uncertainty over Vlaar's future is unsettling the player

"Especially towards Ron it's not decent [to wait this long]. My opinion is that a club is morally obligated to have some clearancy towards a prospected new player," he told reporters.

"The current situation only creates more vagueness. Not only with us, but also with Ron. It's really eating him up, I am noticing.

"If I were Ron, I would set a deadline. I've understood that his agent will do just that. Ron is allowed to finally know where this is going, and so are we."
