The 23-year-old's representative has expressed his belief that his client will join the Magpies this summer, but insists he will not force the Dutch outfit's hand
The 23-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Magpies this summer, and the Premier League club have reportedly already had a bid rejected by the Eredivisie champions.
The Netherlands international has previously admitted that he would be open to a move to Tyneside and speculation increased following suggestions the player had asked Ajax director of football Marc Overmars to allow him to leave.
However, Anita’s agent Harry Lulofs has dismissed those reports, but admits that he is hopeful of meeting with Overmars in the near future to arrange a move away from the Amsterdam ArenA.
"We have spoken with Frank de Boer and want to have a meeting with Overmars, as he has control over it," Lulofs told Ajax Life.
"But there was no meeting yesterday. Hopefully it is just a matter of weeks."
The left-back's contract with Ajax expires in 2014.
