The Dutch international has been the subject of interest from Alan Pardew's side, and is hoping the issue of where he'll be playing next season can be resolved quicklyAjax defender Vurnon Anita is hoping to seek clarification over his immediate future amid continued interest from Newcastle.
The versatile Netherlands international has already been the subject of a reported £5 million bid which was subsequently rejected by the Eredivisie champions. Anita would like to speak to the club's new sporting director Marc Overmars to find out what the future has in store for him.
"I've two years left on my contract. But I want some clarity from Ajax about my future," Anita told the Sunday Mirror.
"We have a meeting with Marc Overmars, the club's new sporting director, to get a clear view of what the club wants."
Comfortable at either left-back or in central midfield, the 23 year-old played a key role for Frank de Boer's side last term. He has two years left on his current deal, and his agent Harry Lulofs has confessed that his client could be open to a move to Newcastle.
"There is serious interest from Newcastle," he told reporters.
"A move to the Premier League is so tempting for him. We have to resolve the situation quickly."
Magpies boss Alan Pardew has already strengthened his squad ahead of the coming campaign with the signings of Romain Amalfitano and youngster Gael Bigirimana, as they look to improve upon last season's impressive fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.
