And the Frenchman thinks that securing the South African on a permanent basis would be a good start if the Merseyside club want to keep improving.

"You always need to strengthen," he told Sky Sports.
"Any manager, or any team, would not want any players. We have still got a small squad and we would definitely like to add some players.
"The most important thing is to keep the players we have got - that's my personal point of view.
"If we can have players like Steven Pienaar coming back to the club that would be great."
The 34-year-old also admitted that, with other sides around them strengthening, he is unsure what would represent success for the Blues next term.
Distin added: "It's difficult. We need to see what's going to happen with the other teams around us, who is going to stay, who is going to go, who is going to come to our squad, then you can start thinking about it.
"Finishing as high as we can is the aim - we did quite well last season and if we can do better, that would be perfect."
