Manchester City target Javi Martinez: I don't see myself playing for Barcelona

The Spain international has recently been linked with a move to the Catalan giants, but he feels that a transfer to Tito Vilanova's Blaugrana is unlikely at this point
Manchester City target Javi Martinez has all but ruled out a move away from Athletic Bilbao this summer, as he sees himself staying at the Spanish club next season.

The Spain international has been linked with a move to Barcelona in the past few weeks, and is also reigniting the interest of Manchester City, as exclusively revealed this week.

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old has stressed that he is happy to see out his current contract with the Basque side.

"I don't see myself playing for Barcelona. I am very happy at Athletic. I have a contract until 2016 and the truth is that I see myself at Athletic [until then]," he stated to Antena 3.

"I've read a lot of things in the newspapers, but not everything that's being said is true. If we were to believe all the rumours, I'd have signed for seven different teams already."

Martinez has made over 200 Primera Division appearances for Athletic since making his official debut in 2006-07.
