The Reds have lodged an £8 million offer for the 21-year-old forward, who previously enjoyed a loan spell with Brendan Rodgers at former club Swansea City in the Championship
As confirmed by Goal.com, the Reds are currently in advanced talks with the Serie A club over an £8 million deal for the Italy international, who only arrived at the Stadio Olimpico last summer, initially on loan from Parma.
It has been speculated that the proposed transfer could go through before the end of week but Sabatini explained that Roma have yet to make a decision on the forward's future.
"There is real interest in the player," the official told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday. "We are evaluating the offer with [general manager Franco] Baldini."

"It's an option that we have," the 57-year-old said. "We'll see how we work it."
Borini, who was included in Italy's Euro 2012 squad, spent four years at Chelsea but joined Parma last summer after a successful loan spell at Swansea, where he worked under new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.
