Baggies sporting director Dan Ashworth dismisses rumors linking the midfielder with Tottenham and Newcastle, and states that he is part of the club's long-term plans

Dan Ashworth, sporting director at West Bromwich Albion has refuted claims that midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is set to leave the club after being linked with a move to Tottenham or Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old Congolese midfielder was recently voted player of the year by his team-mates and the fans after an impressive 2011-12 season at the Hawthorns, but Ashworth has stated that the rumours are not true.

"I think we saw the same comments last year. It seems like there are some agents trying to play a bit of mischief," Ashworth told the Express and Star.

"Once again, we have had no contact from anybody regarding Youssouf. I think people pry on the fact that the players are away on holiday or back home so cannot defend themselves.

"There are always rumours at this time of the year but nothing serious, as far as I'm aware."

Currently, Mulumbu has a contract with The Hawthorns until the summer of 2015.
