Vermaelen vows to remain at Arsenal

Belgian stopper rules out any transfer, insisting he is delighted to be living in London and is happy to spend the rest of his career with the Gunners
Thomas Vermaelen has given Arsenal a boost ahead of the transfer window by pledging his future to the north London club.

The Belgian defender has been a hit for the Gunners since arriving from Ajax in 2009 and aspires to end his career at the Emirates Stadium.

Rumours of a transfer surrounding Gunners' skipper Robin van Persie persist but Vermaelen insists he will not be be moving.

"I will stay at Arsenal forever. There will be no transfer for me," he told reporters.

"I love London. I've got a house there, I'm happy there and I don't see any reason to ever leave the club."
