Aston Villa are set to make an approach to recruit Norwich City boss Paul Lambert as their new manager according to BBC Sport.

Former Villa boss Alex McLeish was sacked after the Midlands side’s dismal season in which they narrowly avoided relegation.

Lambert led Norwich to 12th place in their first season back in the Premier League after guiding the Canaries to back to back promotions from League One and the Championship.

During the last round of fixtures of the Premier League campaign, Lambert’s Norwich dominated Villa in a 2-0 win at Carrow Road.

Lambert signed a contract extension at Carrow Road 12 months ago and any deal to take the former Borussia Dortmund and Celtic player to Villa Park will seemingly include a hefty compensation package.
