Lille defender Debuchy favours English move

The future of France's Euro 2012 right-back remains up in the air as he claims a move to the Premier League would suit him, with Newcastle looking likely to prepare a bid
The future of Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy remains in the balance after the France international suggested he would welcome a move to the Premier League.

The highly-rated right-back has caught the eye of various suitors following a number of impressive displays for the former Ligue 1 champions.
Meanwhile Debuchy's Lille team-mate has finally ended speculation about his future, announcing his decision to join Chelsea

It has been widely reported that Newcastle are interested in the 26-year-old, who scored his first international goal last weekend during France’s 3-2 win against Iceland.

"I would really like to, why not, go and see what it is like to play for a club abroad," Debuchy told reporters at France's training camp.

"Other leagues please me as well, but I really like the English style."

However, questions are likely to remain over his future as Debuchy concentrates on the upcoming European Championships, where he is set to start in the right-back role for Laurent Blanc’s side.

"For the moment I am preparing for the Euro [2012] and I will leave my agents to deal with such matters. If I stay at Lille, I will be happy as well,” he added.

"However, I don't know any more than that, I haven't discussed anything with my club."
