The Frenchman joined the Tyneside club after winning promotion to Ligue 1 last season with homeland club Reims, and is now looking forward to settling into the Premier League and helping the Magpies continue on from last season's strong campaign.

Amalfitano told the club's official website: "Naturally, I have this winning mentality that footballers tend to have.

"Newcastle have already shown last season in their performances without me that they've also got that kind of mentality.
