The Hoops will undergo an internal enquiry into the Loftus Road skipper's actions at the Etihad Stadium while the midfielder will not appeal his 12-game ban given by the FA

QPR have announced they have begun an internal investigation into Joey Barton's sending off, and subsequent behaviour, on the final day of the season at Manchester City.

The Hoops' skipper was dismissed for elbowing Carlos Tevez after tangling with the Argentine, before going on to knee Sergio Aguero and aim a head-butt at City captain Vincent Kompany.
END OF THE ROAD FOR BARTON?
The QPR captain received a 12 game suspension for the fracas he was involved in at the Etihad Stadium in the final game of the season

Barton was given a 12-game ban by the Football Association for his actions and a statement on the Rs official website confirmed that he will not appeal this sanction.

The club also confirmed that Barton has agreed to cooperate fully in the investigation which they anticipate will take two weeks to complete.

Barton took to Twitter after the City game after the game saying: "The head was never gone at any stage, once I'd been sent off, one of our players suggested I should try to take 1 of theirs with me..."

The midfielder also attacked BBC pundit and former manager at Newcastle, Alan Shearer, for comments made on Match of the Day.
