Liverpool have cooled their interest in Andre Villas-Boas as they seek to fill the vacant managerial position at the club, according to The Guardian.

The Portuguese manager had been touted as one of the front runners for the position at Anfield, after the club started its search to replace Kenny Dalglish, who was sacked just over a week ago.

But the Reds have reportedly begun to seriously consider other candidates, such as Wigan's Roberto Martinez and Swansea's Brendan Rodgers.

Despite the 34-year-old's failure with Chelsea in the Premier League, he had previously guided Porto to three titles in his sole campaign at the helm.

The Blues went on to lift the FA Cup and Champions League following his sacking, with his former assistant Roberto Di Matteo taking charge on an interim basis.
