The Stamford Bridge chief has announced that CEO Ron Gourlay will meet with the Ivorian's agent this week in order to negotiate an extension to his deal with the club

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has revealed that the club are set to hold talks with Champions League hero Didier Drogba about a new deal.

The Ivorian striker, who is out of contract next month, scored a crucial late equaliser in the European final on Saturday before slotting home the winning penalty in the shootout.

And Buck has now confirmed that the club will discuss his future in the coming days.

He told The Mail on Sunday: “Didier is a big-match player and he did it once again. He's a good guy, a great player.

“[Chief executive] Ron [Gourlay] is going to sit down with his agent this week and we'll see how it goes.

“We have to do what's best for Chelsea football club and Didier has to do what's best for him.”

Drogba has reportedly been promised a £20 million package to join former team-mate Nicolas Anelka at mega-rich Shanghai Shenhua in China while there is also supposed interest from MLS.
