Manchester United send Vidic to Spain to aid injury recovery

The Red Devils' Serbian defender has travelled to Europe as he steps up his bid to regain full fitness ahead of the start of the next Premier League season in August

Nemanja Vidic has been sent to Spain by Manchester United in an attempt to increase his chances of being fit for the start of next season.

The centre-back ruptured a cruciate ligament against Basel in the Champions League back in December.

United have sorely missed the Serbian defender but manager Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping he will be fully fit for the start of next season’s campaign.

“We sent Vida to a complex in Spain last week," Sir Alex was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"He's not doing any running yet, just work in the gym.

"He'll miss the summer tour but hopefully will be ready for the start of the season.”
