Dalglish: Liverpool deserved more this season

Anfield legend insists that the Reds have not picked up the results their performances warranted in the league this season and believes his side will come back stronger next term
Kenny Dalglish has insisted Liverpool have not achieved the results that their play should have merited in the Premier League this season.

Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Swansea left the Reds in eighth place, their lowest league finish for 18 years, and below Mersey side rivals Everton for the first time since 2005.

Dalglish told Sky Sports: "There have been some positive things but there has been the disappointment of performances not being matched by results - but we will just carry on.

"In the league they have not got what they deserved for their performance, and in the cup ties we've only lost so that's that bad."

The Scot was also adamant that the club has improved markedly in his time in charge, and pointed to Liverpool's cup successes this season as evidence.

He added: "When you consider the season before when we were out of both cups by January and when I came in we were only four points away from relegation it's not been too bad."

Despite finishing outside the European qualification spots in the league, the Reds' League Cup triumph has ensured that they will be playing in the Europa League next season.
