thumbnail Hello,

Sir Alex Ferguson has opted for a five-man midfield for the tip to the Stadium of Light, with Wayne Rooney leading the line, while three former players start for the Black Cats

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made two changes to his starting XI for Sunday's trip to Sunderland, with both Jonny Evans and Ryan Giggs returning to the side.

Javier Hernandez and Chris smalling both drop out of the starting line-up following last week's win over Swansea, with the defender missing out from the matchday squad completely due to injury.

The Scotsman has opted for a five-man midfield, in spite of his side needing to better City's result in order to overhaul their Manchester rival in the title race, with Wayne Rooney leading the line.

For the hosts, manager Martin O'Neill makes three changes to the side that fell to a 2-1 defeat against Fulham last weekend, Fraizer Campbell, Titus Bramble and David Vaughan all returning to the side.

Sunderland starting XI:
Mignolet; O’Shea, Bardsley, Bramble, Turner; Gardner, McClean, Colback, Vaughan; Sessegnon, Campbell
Subs: Westwood (g), Bridge, Wickham, Dong-won, Meyler, Kyrgiakos, Elmohamady

Manchester United starting XI: De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Young, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs; Rooney.
Subs: Amos (g) Owen, Berbatov, Park, Chicharito, Nani, Rafael.
