Zabaleta: Winning Premier League will start new era for Manchester City

Argentine defender states that the game against QPR will be the most important of his career, and that picking up the trophy can kick off a new period of success for the club

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta says that securing the Premier League crown will start a new era for the club.

City will pick up their first title since 1968 if they beat relegation-battling QPR at the Etihad Stadium, although Manchester United still have a chance of stealing the trophy from right under the noses of Mancini’s men if they beat Sunderland and City slip up.

Zabaleta told the club’s official website: "We're only 90 minutes away from making history. If we succeed it is probably the start of a new era for this club.

"As a team, I think it's going to be without doubt the most important game we've ever played in.

28/1 Manchester City are 28/1 with William Hill to beat QPR 6-0

"We want to do it for our fans who I know have been waiting for a long time. The only thing I can say is that all the players will do their best against QPR and we will do everything we can to win the title.

"We're very close but nothing is done yet, so we'll see on Sunday."

The Argentine will be aiming to make his 21st Premier League appearance of the season when the match kicks off at 15:00BST.
