thumbnail Hello,

The centre-back has been phoning his sibling to remind him what a positive Rs result could have on his side's title chances with the Hoops meeting Manchester City on Sunday

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is hoping his brother Anton Ferdinand and his QPR team, can help beat Manchester City in their final Premier League game of the season.

The Londoners' battle with relegation is set to go down to the last day, and a point against Roberto Mancini’s men will be enough to preserve their top-flight status.

City, meanwhile, know that a victory will guarantee their first league title since 1968, with rivals United ready to pounce on any slip-up and Rio Ferdinand is hoping his younger brother can help the Red Devils out.

Anton Ferdinand told The Sun: “Rio’s been on the phone asking for a favour.

“But it’s about us. I’m concentrating on QPR as we have a massive job to do for ourselves.

“We’ve got to go there and get a point, if not three. I have faith in my team-mates that we could possibly do that.”

A QPR loss at the hands of City will leave the London club’s hopes in the hands of Bolton, who will fill the last relegation slot if they fail to get a win away at Stoke.

Regardless of their fate, QPR owner Tony Fernandes has insisted that he will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

“If we do get a result and United and Rio go on to win the title, then I will be chuffed for him,” he added.

“If they don’t win it but we stay up I will be very, very happy. City have so much riding on it - but so have we.

“This game determines whether people keep jobs or not at our club. We have to make sure every single person keeps their job for next season.”
