Roberto Mancini's men move top of the Premier League on goal difference following their victory over Sir Alex Ferguson's side at the Etihad Stadium on MondayVincent Kompany's headed goal in first-half injury time was enough to give Manchester City a huge 1-0 win over rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
The result pushed Roberto Mancini's troops back on level terms with the Red Devils on points, and sees them edge their noses in front on goal difference - making them the bookmakers' favourites to go on and win the Premier League.
Earlier this month, United had moved into an eight-point lead at the top of the table, but a defeat against Wigan Athletic, along with a draw against Everton and now a loss at the Etihad Stadium has seen Mancini's men take pole position in the league for the first time since March 10.
To secure the title, City must secure maximum points away at Newcastle United before hosting QPR on the final day of the season. For United, Ferguson's men play Swansea at Old Trafford before ending their campaign at Sunderland and will hope Mancini's men slip up in their remaining two games.
