The Dane has been on a season-long loan from Arsenal but, with talks over an extension yet to get underway, he has admitted that he may turn down an offer to stay
Sunderland loanee Nicklas Bendtner has remained coy over the possibility of a permanent move to the Stadium Of Light.
Current manager Martin O’Neill stated earlier in the week that recruiting a striker is high on his transfer wish list.
And the Arsenal player revealed that he has yet to enter talks over extending his stay in the North East, before admitting that his future could lie elsewhere.
"Never say never about Sunderland, but it is not certain that I will be here if the opportunity arises,” he told TV2.

"About Arsenal, I obviously have to have a chat with the club about it [his future], but it's not there that the first priority is going to be. I think I have been fairly clear about it."
However, the striker insisted that he will look back in fondness on his time at Sunderland - whatever his future holds.
"It's been great to come up here and get games, it's different than what I was used to at Arsenal, but it's been a good period for me," he explained.
