TEAM NEWS: Defoe returns to Tottenham starting XI as Adebayor drops out of squad for QPR clash

African striker out of the squad, as Harry Redknapp selects Sandro and Parker in central midfield, and William Gallas and Ledley King continue at the heart of the defence
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has selected Jermain Defoe to lead the attack when his side play QPR, with Emmanuel Adebayor left out of the squad.

Defoe will be supported by Rafael van der Vaart in attack, while Ledley King and William Gallas retain their places at the heart of the defence despite last week's 5-1 thrashing against Chelsea.

For the hosts, Djibril Cisse returns from a four-game suspension but can only make the bench, as Jamie Mackie and Bobby Zamora keep their places in the attack. 

QPR starting XI:
QPR: Kenny, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Hill, Taiwo; Barton, Diakite, Derry; Taarabt, Zamora, Mackie.

Subs: Cerny, Gabbidon, Traore, Buzsaky, Helguson, Cisse, Wright-Phillips.

Tottenham starting XI:
Friedel; Walker, Gallas, King, Assou-Ekotto; Parker, Sandro; Modric, van der Vaart, Bale; Defoe.
