The 21-year-old also confirmed that he has spoken to Fellipe Bastos, another Brazilian owned by Benfica, about the club, adding: “He spoke very well of the club.”
Fabio and his twin brother Rafael joined United back in January 2008, although they were unable to play until they had turned 18 in July later that year.
Despite a prolonged spell in the side last season, including a start against Barcelona in the Champions League final, Fabio has struggled for a consistent run of games this campaign, making just 14 appearances in all competitions.
