Mancini: Tottenham face competition for Adebayor signature

The Italian boss has revealed the White Hart Lane outfit will have to beat other interested parties to land the former Arsenal forward, admitting he has no future at the Etihad

Manchester City have confirmed that Tottenham will face strong competition to secure the services of Emmanuel Adebayor during the summer.

The on-loan striker has become an instant success at White Hart Lane having bagged 13 goals, and also has 11 assists to his name.

Bet365 are offering 11/1 that Emmanuel Adebayor will score a hat-trick when Tottenham face Norwich on Easter Monday.

With Adebayor in sparkling form keeping Spurs' other two strikers Jermain Defoe and Louis Saha out of the team, it is thought the club will attempt to make his move from the Etihad permanent at the end of the season.

But City boss Roberto Mancini has now revealed that the ex-Arsenal frontman is also being watched by a number of top European clubs.

He told Sky Sports News: “Adebayor is playing well and I am happy for him. He's a good guy and a good player and I am happy.

"If at the end of the season he wants to stay at Tottenham they will buy him, or another team will. There are a lot of teams that want Manu."

The Italian went on to say that the Togolese man did not have a future back at City because of the number of striking options already available to him, adding: “At this moment, no because we have four strikers and it’s impossible for this.”
