Dyer tips Swansea City team-mate Graham to shoot down Newcastle

The Gateshead-born striker hasn't scored in six league games, his longest run without a goal since moving to Wales, but the winger backs him to dent the Magpies' European hopes
Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer is backing team-mate Danny Graham to end his barren run with a goal against Newcastle United.

The Swans host Alan Pardew’s side on Good Friday and Graham, who moved to the Liberty Stadium for £3.5 million last summer from Watford, will be looking to get on the scoresheet after going six league games without a goal.

“Danny will be pumped up for this as he’s from Newcastle,” he told reporters. “I’m sure he’ll try his best to get on the scoresheet.

“Strikers go through patches where they don’t score for a couple of games and then score constantly. Everybody doubted Danny at the start of the season, but his finishing ability is of the highest level.

“He does a lot of hard work for us on his own up front. Sometimes he doesn’t get the chances which can be frustrating for him.

“But if he gets a chance, he’ll stick it away.”

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is likely to start Graham against Newcastle, despite strong competition from Luke Moore, and is confident that the 26-year-old will find his scoring boots soon.

“Danny hasn’t had many chances in recent games, but one thing I always know I get from Danny is a real shift," added the manager.
