Howard praises Everton's 'solid' defensive displays

The Toffees keeper has been happy with his side's run of three successive clean sheets and believes it is the basis behind their impressive recent revival under David Moyes

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has praised the team’s defensive performances over the last few weeks as a huge factor in their impressive run of form.

Everton have won their last three games - which included securing themselves a place in the FA Cup semi-finals - without conceding a goal.

David Moyes's men are now lying seventh in the Premier League, one point ahead of neighbours Liverpool and keeper Tim Howard is delighted with the performances of the defenders in front of him.

"We felt like we've been pretty solid lately," he told Everton's official website.

"We've had a good run since Christmas and we really felt like that started defensively, and we've been scoring goals as well.

"I don't know how the manager is choosing at the minute but he seems to be doing the right thing, and giving guys a rest when they need it and they haven't disappointed.

"I love our centre-halves - Jags was our skipper against West Brom and he was fantastic. Since the turn of the year it's not about if we're going to concede, it's about how many chances we'll give up."

Everton are 10/1 with Bet365 to beat Norwich 2-0 on Saturday and make it four successive clean sheets.

The Toffees keeper had only one save to make in last weekend's 2-0 win at home to West Brom and didn’t have to make a large contribution to make in their previous two victories at Sunderland and Swansea.

"As a goalkeeper when the guys in front of you are limiting chances like that, you know goals aren't going to be scored," Howard added.

"They've done such a good job of putting the opponent in areas where it's difficult for them to get chances. Of course, when it happens that's when I have to try and earn my money."
