The injury sustained by Liverpool's Daniel Agger in the League Cup final victory against Cardiff City is set to rule the defender out for up to four weeks, according to The Independent.

Agger, who has been forced to withdraw from the Denmark squad to face Russia on Wednesday, was substituted in the 87th minute at Wembley and has since been diagnosed with a fractured rib.

The news comes as a huge blow to Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish after he has seen the Dane form an imperious partnership at the back with Martin Skrtel this season.

The Reds' first game without the centre-back comes this weekend as they face fellow top-four chasers Arsenal at Anfield.

They then travel to a resurgent Sunderland before hosting Everton in a derby match rearranged for March 13 due to their previous League Cup commitments.
