thumbnail Hello,

The England international lifted silverware for the first time in four years and has urged his team-mates to reach more finals ahead of FA Cup quarter-final against Stoke City

Glen Johnson is hungry for more trophies after claiming the League Cup with Liverpool.

The right-back, who scored in the penalty-shootout against Cardiff City on Sunday, helped end the Reds’ six-year trophy drought.

Now the 27-year-old has set his sights on further success with the club, who have an FA Cup quarter-final against Stoke at Anfield to look forward too.

He told the club’s official website: “It would mean the world. That’s what football is about – getting to finals and winning these trophies.

“That’s what it’s all about, that’s what we work hard for day in, day out.”

The England international joined Liverpool from Portsmouth in 2009 for £18 million, and Johnson admitted that the move was in pursuit of winning more major honours.

“It’s what you join Liverpool football club for.

“It’s a fantastic club, we’ve got some great stars and players and obviously with medals – the more the merrier,” he said.

Liverpool’s penalty victory over the Championship side at Wembley also saw Johnson lift his first trophy since his FA Cup victory with Portsmouth in 2008, and was lost for words after his latest triumph.

He said: “Words can’t describe it. It’s fantastic – it’s what the lads have worked so hard for and I think we deserved it.”
