Manchester United's Antonio Valencia could make swift return against Tottenham
Ecuador international looked set to be out for a month after suffering a hamstring injury against Ajax last week, but may be in line to feature at White Hart Lane
By Michael Lightfoot
The Ecuador international came on as a substitute against Ajax in the 2-0 win in the Europa League before having to leave the field with the problem, and the Red Devils quickly confirmed the 26-year-old would be sidelined for up to four weeks.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed the former Wigan winger could make a quicker than expected return and feature against title rivals Spurs on March 4 at White Hart Lane.
In his official matchday programme notes ahead of Thursday's match against Ajax, Ferguson wrote: "The availability of Ashley Young and Nani as natural wide players considerably strengthens our attacking options.
"And I am sure our strikers are pleased to see them.
"They will be sorry to see Antonio Valencia injured again because he too provides great service from out on his wing, but it's not a particularly serious injury and he should be back in a week or so."
