The Bundesliga side are looking to bring in reinforcements as they prepare for Champions League football next season, and have allegedly set their sights on the Belgian striker
s they begin preparations for next season, Borussia Monchengladbach are considering a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, Express reports.
Lucien Favre's side are currently second in the Bundesliga, and on course for a Champions League berth. And to help bolster their attack, the Foals are said to be hoping to bring in the 18-year-old on loan.
Lukaku moved from Anderlecht to Chelsea last summer for €22 million (£18.6m), but has since found playing time hard to come by, having featured in just six Premier League games thus far.
Having failed to score, his stock has diminished to just €15m, according to Transfermarkt and with playing time hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, he has admitted that a loan is a possibility as he looks to rediscover the form that saw him crowned Belgium's top scorer as a 17-year-old in 2010.
Compatriot Igor de Camargo, of Gladbach, has given Lukaku high praise, and feels the player would be an excellent addition to his side.
"Romelu has a lot of competition at Chelsea, there are a lot of big names, so it is of course very difficult for any player trying to break through," he said.
"He is a great guy, who plays with a lot of strength, an important player for the Belgian national team. An interesting, very good lad."
In addition to Lukaku, Gladbach have recently been linked with Hamburg-contracted winger Maximilian Beister, who has spent the season on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Should a move be completed, Lukaku would not be the first player to move to the Borussia-Park on loan. Manchester United's Joshua King signed on a one-year loan in August, but was plagued by injuries in the first half of the season and only played in two games before being sent home early in January.
