Poll of the day: Is a fourth-placed finish and no trophy good enough to keep Arsenal fans happy?

With the Gunners out of the FA Cup and staring down the barrel of a Champions League exit, would a fourth-placed finish appease fans after seven years without a trophy?

"The first trophy is to finish in the top four," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted this week but is that enough to keep Arsenal fans happy? This season looks like being the seventh successive year without a trophy for the Gunners, and it's fair to say that supporters are growing restless.

After a terrible week involving a 4-0 defeat in the first leg of their Champions League tie with AC Milan and an FA Cup exit at the hands of Sunderland, it's a quote that Wenger could have done without letting slip.

Arsenal have certainly come close in the six-and-a-half years since their FA Cup final victory over Manchester United in Cardiff, including the 2006 Champions League final defeat to Barcelona, and the last-minute defeat to Birmingham in the League Cup final in 2010.

However, while finishing fourth is indeed an achievement, it surely can't be compared to success in another competition, can it?
