Chelsea’s Ramires has agreed a new three-year deal at Stamford Bridge which will extend his stay with the Blues until 2017, according to The Sun.

The Brazilian arrived in west London in 2010 after from Portuguese outfit Benfica for £18 million and has contributed eight goals in his 26 starts this season.

The news comes as a boost to Chelsea, who currently sit fifth in the Premier League in their most difficult campaign since Russian owner Roman Abramovich took over eight years ago.

The 24-year-old has given the Blues' ageing midfield a new lease of life since signing and is seen as part of Andre Villas-Boas' long-term project.

Ramires was back in action this weekend, after a three-week absence following his recovery from a knee injury, and featured in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City in the FA Cup.
