Tottenham’s Ledley King to wait until the end of the season to begin contract negotiations

Tottenham captain Ledley King has stated he has no intention of rushing into contract negotiations with the club.

The Spurs defender has been a key part of the north London side's Premier League title challenge this season despite only featuring 15 times so far in the campaign, with King's chronic knee problem limiting appearances.

The 31-year-old's current deal is set to expire in the summer, with manager Harry Redknapp suggesting last year that King would have to make at least 20 league appearances for the club to earn a renewed deal.

While the centre-back looks on course to reach that target, he insists he is not concentrating on securing a new deal at the moment, and is instead focusing on Spurs' push for the top of the table.

King told Sky Sports: “I've left it between my agent and the chairman and I have not heard anything at the moment.

"I'm just keeping my head down and playing as many games as I can and at the end of the season we will see where that is."
