Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted his relief at adding to his goal tally during Tottenham's 5-0 win against Newcastle, but admitted results are more important as the team stayed 10 points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Togolese man was in unstoppable form against sixth-placed Newcastle at White Hart Lane, providing four assists and the other goal in the rout, leading manager Harry Redknapp to state that the striker "set the tone" for the game in the opening stages.

Adebayor also spoke of how delighted he was with the win, insisting that despite the five goal margin, the match was not as easy as Spurs made it look.

"When you go through four, five, six games without scoring you start questioning yourself what is wrong," Adebayor told the club's official website.

"I've had some stick from my team-mates - in a good way - but it was important to be part of it, to score, to make assists.

"I'm here to help the team win games, that's most important. I've worked hard in training and my team-mates all believe in me and what I can do.

"I'm very happy, very pleased. We took the three points, we showed character, personality.

"We all know how good Newcastle are, two strikers in form in [Papiss] Cisse and Demba [Ba] and we knew if we wanted to win this game, we had to show character from the start.

"We created chances, took them and that made it easy for us. It wasn't an easy game but we made it easy."
