Both teams are anxiously awaiting referee Phil Dowd’s report to see if they will be reprimanded after players were involved in a ruckus in the tunnel at Old Trafford.
The incident is believed to have been started after Patrice Evra tried to confront Luis Suarez, following the Uruguayan's failure to shake the hand of the Frenchman in the pre-game build-up, something which elevated tensions leading to the bust-up at half-time.
Players had to be restrained at the interval by Police and stewards and the FA can now call upon these officials as witnesses if need be to decide any punishment towards the two clubs.
There was also a fracas at full-time following United’s 2-1 win, as Evra celebrated animatedly in front of the home crowd and Suarez in particular, which lead to other Reds players shoving their way through in attempt to get at the 30-year-old.
The report from Dowd is expected to be delivered to the FA later on Monday and any subsequent action would be taken over the next few days.
