Swansea City midfielder Nathan Dyer says his side may need to protest more to referees to get the right decisions.

The winger believes Brendan Rodgers' side have not received enough protection from officials and admits they are slightly "naïve" in their approach to complaining to the referee.

Dyer told reporters: “I didn’t feel we got as much protection as we would have liked. There was maybe a few too many kicks, but we have to take that.

“We are not the type of team to crowd referees but I guess sometimes we are a bit naïve and don’t protest as much as we should when there’s a foul.

“That’s in our nature because we just want to get on and play the game. We don’t want to be getting in the referee’s face.

“But sometimes maybe we do need to say a few things to the ref. But we have refs, linesmen and fourth officials and we hope they do their job.”

Swansea lost just their second home league game of the season against Norwich City on Saturday, with Paul Lambert’s men moving up to eighth with a 3-2 victory at the Liberty Stadium.

Dyer has urged his side, who are set for a break in Tenerife, to move on from the defeat after an impressive first campaign in the Premier League.

He added: “We just weren’t at the races. We have performed above all expectations so we can’t be too down-heartened.

“We have to pick ourselves, come back from our break and come out firing on all cylinders.”
