The row involving Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra eventually saw the Uruguayan striker banned for eight matches for racially abusing the Frenchman.
Liverpool's game against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday saw the former Ajax forward being involved for the first time against the Red Devils since his suspension.
There had been a lot of speculation concerning whether Patrice Evra would shake Suarez's hand prior to the match. But instead it was the striker who refused to shake the opposition defender by the hand.
As a consequence of this, Rio Ferdinand snubbed the Uruguayan when he tried to shake hands, as an immediade response to his behaviour towards fellow-Red Devil Evra.
Following the game - which Liverpool lost 2-1 - United manager Sir Alex Ferguson branded Suarez a "disgrace", and called for the Merseyside club not to play him again.
"That certain player should not be allowed to play for Liverpool again," he said. "With the history that club has got, and he does that in this city today - he could have caused a riot.
"I was really disappointed in that guy. It was terrible, what he did.
"It created a tension - you've seen the referee, he didn't know what to do about it. It caught him off-guard, and it was a terrible start to the game. There was a terrible atmosphere created."
But was all this a ploy by Suarez to throw Evra off his game? Or perhaps he feels like a victim after being banned for eight matches, when in his view he used a word that is non-offensively commonplace in his homeland? Was that his way of rebelling against the decision that was taken to slap him with a suspension?
Or do you think the South American hitman's attitude and behaviour were unacceptable given the circumstances. Do you support Sir Alex's view that he should never play for Liverpool again?
