Tottenham’s Rafael van der Vaart, Younes Kaboul and Sandro are all set to miss the visit of Newcastle, manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed.

The north London side have struggled with injuries recently, missing six regular first team squad members but the 64-year-old feels some may return for Saturday’s game.

Midfielders Sandro and Van der Vaart continue to suffer from third calf injuries, while defender Kaboul is also a doubt with the knee injury that kept him out of the Liverpool game.

“We’ve got a few injuries,” Redknapp told reporters.  “Younes is still struggling a bit with his knee and Sandro’s calf is not good. He’s still struggling. [William] Gallas is just starting to jog a bit but he’s a couple of weeks away.

“Jermain Defoe has trained for the last couple of days, the coaches have said. Aaron Lennon is coming back as well, he looks okay and he’s looked sharp, so it’s not too bad.

“With Ledley, again, we’ll see. He’s going to come out this morning and have a jog around with us and see how he is. Rafa’s no good though, he’s still got a calf strain.”

Spurs also have longer term problems with Tom Huddlestone gradually regaining fitness. However Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley all still on the treatment table and expected to be out of action until the end of the season.
