Highly rated Newcastle youngster Haris Vuckic is set to join Cardiff City on an initial one-month loan deal in a bid to gain further first-team experience.

The 19-year-old and broke into the first-team last season but has seen his progress hampered following the fine form of Demba Ba and Leon Best, plus the January arrival of Papiss Cisse, so Newcastle have allowed the youngster to continue his footballing education in the Championship.

The tall forward joined Newcastle in 2009 from Slovenian side Domzale and has progressed quickly through the youth ranks and after an impressive pre-season Pardew included him in the first-team squad at the start of the season, making his debut back in August as a substitute.

Vuckic started his first league game for the team on December 21 against West Brom and received plaudits for this performance and his signature will no doubt be seen a major coup for Malky Mackay in his hopes to take Cardiff to the Premier League.

The Slovenian is expected to complete his move to the Bluebirds this week and is likely to be included in the first-team squad that travels to Leicester City on Saturday.
