Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti insists that he has no regrets after leaving Chelsea last summer but has reiterated that he would like to return to the Premier League one day.

The Italian was sacked from Stamford Bridge after an unsuccessful 2010-11 season and says that he needed no explanation for his dismissal, but thanked the club for his time there.

Asked by Sky Sports News if he had any regrets about the end of his spell with the Blues, Ancelotti said: “No, because I had a fantastic experience in England and for me this is the most important thing.

“I stayed two years, really well with a fantastic relationship with the players and all the people because I think that the football in England is very good because the atmosphere is fantastic. So for this reason I have no regrets.

“I would like in the future, if there is a possibility, to come back because I think now a lot of coaches want to come back in England.”

“I read some news ...” he added, laughing, which prompted his interviewer to ask whether he was referring to rumours about Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho’s future.

“Yeah, I talk about Jose because I think this is the reason,” Ancelotti stated.

“Before my arrival in London I didn’t know the atmosphere. The football is fantastic, all the stadiums are full, there is no violence, the people respect you and this is the most important thing.

“For this reason I have to say thanks to Chelsea who chose me to train them for two years and I had the possibility to win, so no regrets.”

The 52-year-old claimed that the decision to remove him had not been fully explained to him by owner Roman Abramovich, but that it would not have been necessary to do so.

“I didn’t want an explanation because I knew that I didn’t win,” the coach, who won a league and FA Cup double with the Blues in the 2009-10 season, said.

Ancelotti’s new side, PSG, are currently top of the French Ligue 1.
