Arsenal's Johan Djourou signs new contract extension until 2015 – report

Defender believed to have signed a three-year extension after annoucing his intention to remain at the Emirates

Johan Djourou has put pen to paper and signed a new contract with Arsenal extending his current deal until 2015.

Even though the Swiss defender has struggled to make enough of an impression to merit a regular first team place in Arsene Wenger’s side, the deal adds a further three years to his contract.

The 25-year-old is not in denial about his lack of first team opportunities but has maintained his keenness  to stay at the club for as long as possible and try and stake a claim for a regular place in the side.

He told website football.ch: "I like this club and I want to stay here as long as possible.

"I currently work in the background, waiting for another chance to show my potential. I have confidence in the future."

The 25-year-old has been at the North-London club since 2003, clocking up 136 appearances, as well as 30 for the Swiss national side.
