Adel Taarabt ready for a new start at QPR following arrival of Mark Hughes

The Moroccan midfielder had struggled to impose himself on the Premier League under Neil Warnock but hopes to have a new lease of life with the Welshman at the helm

QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt believes the appointment of Mark Hughes has offered him a new start at Loftus Road and the chance to show what he is capable of.

The Morocco international inspired Neil Warnock’s Rangers to promotion from the Championship last season, finding the net 19 times in the league and adding a further 16 assists, and he was continuously linked with a move away during the summer.

However, a transfer failed to materialise and he remained at Loftus Road for the current Premier League season, and although the 22-year-old is yet to score a goal in the league this season, he feels his luck may be changing with Hughes in charge.

Speaking to QPR Player, Taarabt said: "He's [Hughes] a great manager.

"He told me, 'You're a fantastic player and I am here to get you on the ball and we want to play football'.

"The last couple of months was disappointing for me because I didn't show what I know I can do.

"But now, a new manager and a new start for me."

QPR travel to Blackburn on Saturday as they look to end a run of three matches without a win following two losses and a draw in all competitions.
