Cruciate ligament injuries, Monday night action and Madonna. There’s no end to the possibilities within a footballer’s mind when it comes to Twitter and today has been no different.
Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong has been hit with the news that he’ll miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury that he suffered playing on-loan for Wolves at the weekend, with his fellow Gunners offering a word of support. But it’s not all bad news for the midfielder, with the Ghanaian able to have more time honing his Twitter legacy.
Meanwhile, Anfield will be bursting with anticipation tonight with Tottenham on the hunt for back-to-back wins at the Merseyside venue against Liverpool, with both sets of players excited for the clash, especially a certain Luis Suarez.
Last night’s Super Bowl action will have spawned an audience of record figures, but one Manchester United striker isn’t too convinced with the American sports franchise, whilst QPR bad-boy Joey Barton couldn’t help but be dismayed by the half-time entertainment.
Goal.com have rounded up the best comments from around the world of footballers on Twitter...

“Bad News is that I'm out for 6-9months with my Knee Gd News is that I will therefore have all the time in my hands to be doin #frimmyfacts”
Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong looks on the brighter side after having his season ended by a cruciate ligament injury.
“Sad news about my friend @Frimpong26AFC thinking of you mate! #getwellsoonyfrimmy”
Fellow Gunner Jack Wilshere offers the Ghanaian some sympathy after hearing the news. But hey, at least the England midfielder will have some company in the Arsenal medical room until the summer.
“@Frimpong26AFC u will come back stronger as u did last time with your injury! Head up mate!”
Thomas Vermaelen also speaks up on Frimpong’s season-ending injury.

Meanwhile in Manchester, Wayne Rooney has a hard time enjoying America’s headline event of the year. Maybe watching his hair grow in the mirror would keep him a little more pre-occupied.
“I am defo off to bed. Was enjoying that till Madonna showed up. Now am just annoyed. Goodnight all, sweet none Madonna related dreams.”
Joey Barton, on the other hand, was having a ball as a spectator of the game in Indiana, but the QPR man’s night was left in ruin after seeing the 52-year-old queen of pop Madonna strut her stuff at half-time.
“Good luck to the boys tonight, Anfield always a tough place!! Both teams have been playing well of late! Safe travelling to the fans.”
Tottenham are looking for back-to-back wins at Anfield and the sidelined Tom Huddlestone is anticipating a tough battle on Merseyside.
“Finishing treatment then get ready to watch the REDS tonight #biggame”
Fellow injured man and Liverpool midfielder Lucas is also getting in the mood for the clash.
“Finally the day came!!!”
Luis Suarez is back from suspension tonight, much to the striker’s delight and seems quite excited for his return to action.

"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
