Andre Villas-Boas has reportedly been left feeling rocked following a recent visit from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, with the Russian far from happy with the club’s progression.
Abramovich is believed to have turned up uninvited to Chelsea’s training ground at Cobham on Saturday with the squad preparing to face Manchester United, a match they ended up drawing, despite having held three goal lead.
The Daily Mail understand Abramovich watched the club training for a short period, before demanding to be informed of Villas-Boas’ proposed tactics for the visit of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, whilst he is believed to have spent several hours judging the mood around the squad.
The Russian had apparently been too immersed in his current legal entanglements to be able to lend too much of his time to running Chelsea on a day-to-day basis but, while the court case is awaiting judgement, it has been said he is turning his attention back to Villas-Boas and the faltering team.
Murmurings from several quarters have long suggested the Portuguese coach, who arrived from FC Porto in the summer, is struggling to command the respect of the senior players in the dressing room, with several reports claiming has has endured fallings out with Frank Lampard since his arrival.
Following Sunday’s draw with United, Abramovich is said to have come down to the changing room and spent an hour talking to the team, with his overriding plan believed to have been to test the morale of the squad, but his coach is thought to be feeling the pressure following the visit.

"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
