Boca fans to Carlos Tevez: Leave the English and come back to Argentina
The controversial attacker made an appearance at the testimonial of club legend Martin Palermo, and received an extremely warm welcome from the fans
By Stefan Coerts
The 27-year-old was expected to play alongside Palermo and other Boca Juniors legends in a match arranged in the retired goalscorer's honour, but Tevez eventually opted against featuring in order to avoid controversy.
Nevertheless, the striker entered the pitch at half-time, and his arrival was met with delight by the Boca fans.
"Leave the English, and come back over here!," they chanted when the attacker walked onto the field.
Tevez was being linked with AC Milan, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, but stayed with City in the end.
Brazilian club Corinthians are yet to rule out a late swoop for their former star, although City's financial demands have previously scuppered the chance of a return to South America.
