Tottenham winger Gareth Bale and Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers have been named Player & Manager of the Month respectively for January.

The Spurs winger scored three times and bagged two assists to claim the player award, including a stunning strike at Manchester City in the north London club’s 3-2 defeat against the league leaders.

The Wales international – who has been attracting increased attention from across the globe for his mesmerising performances on the left flank – also scored a brace in the Lilywhites’ 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has helped continue the Swans’ impressive first season in the Premier League, guiding the Welsh club to two wins and a draw in their January top-flight matches.

The eye-catching side also overcame Arsenal in an enthralling 3-2 victory at Liberty Stadium before drawing 1-1 with Chelsea at the end of the month, a match that could easily have ended in a Swansea win.

The Swans' only loss in the league came at the hands of Sunderland, who have been in remarkable form since Martin O’Neill told over in December.
