Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez to play for Boca Juniors in Martin Palermo testimonial
The 27-year-old played his last match back in September but on Saturday will appear in Argentina to honour the wonderful career of his former team-mate
By Daniel Edwards
Tevez last took to the field for City on September 18 against Fulham, nine days before his refusal to come on as a late substitute in a Champions League match led to a breakdown in relations between club and player.
The Argentina international has since been in a self-imposed exile in his native country and has seen the January transfer window pass without finding a new home.
Ole revealed, however, that he was ready to end his absence from the football pitch in a testimonial arranged for former Boca team-mate and close friend Palermo. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday, with kick-off arranged for 20.00 local time (02.00CET).
Other participants in the homage are yet to be revealed, but it is known that the two teams will be directed by two coaches very familiar to Tevez. One XI will be coached by his former Xeneixe trainer Carlos Bianchi, while the other will fall under the charge of ex-Argentina man Alfio Basile, currently at Racing Club.
Tevez's future, meanwhile, remains undefined. With the European window closed a move within the old continent is now impossible until June, although a transfer to either Brazil or Argentina could still be viable if a team can match Manchester City's valuation of their player.

"But, we came through. Obviously there were a lot of changes so it's good to get the result.
"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
