Official: Wolves sign Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong on loan until end of season
Cameroonian international seals switch to struggling Midlands side from Spurs after finding first-team opportunities hard to-come-by at White Hart Lane
By Simon Sinclair
The Cameroonian international had fallen in the pecking order at White Hart Lane and has been pursued by Mick McCarthy as he looks bolster his side's defensive options as they push for Premier League survival.
Wolves re-kindled their interest in the former Newcastle defender this afternoon and the deal was reached shortly before the 11pm deadline and will now look to feature in the Midlands' side's 15 remaining games.
Bassong has made 13 appearances for Spurs this season in all competitions and has struggled to impose himself on the first-team since his £8 million from the Magpies in 2009.
The 25-year-old could make his Wolves debut against QPR on Saturday as the club look to bounce back from the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday.
The former Metz man had also interested QPR however no deal could reached between the Rangers and Tottenham before McCarthy pounced to seal the signature of the Cameroonian.

"But, we came through. Obviously there were a lot of changes so it's good to get the result.
"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
