Official: Blackburn sign defender Bradley Orr from QPR
The 29-year-old right-back has found opportunities limited at Loftus Road, with Steve Kean reinforcing his defensive options as the club look to avoid relegation
By George Ankers
The right-back had made only eight appearances so far this season at Loftus Road, with Luke Young preferred in his position and Nedum Onuoha recently arriving from Manchester City.
Kean has since suggested that the 29-year-old's experience was a key factor behind the decision to bring Orr to Ewood Park.
“I think the age he's at gives us a little bit more experience in that position,” Kean told reporters of Orr’s transfer.
“We've been playing Jason Lowe and young Adam Henley there as well, but we feel Bradley will bring us experience and another option.”
The former Bristol City man will not be able to make his debut in Wednesday’s home match against Newcastle, with Saturday’s visit to Arsenal his first chance to impress.
Orr himself is thrilled at the move, telling Sky Sports News: “It just really excites me.
“It is obvious they have got a great squad and it is a chance for me to try and establish myself as a Blackburn player and do as well as I can for the club.”
Rovers are currently 18th in the Premier League, two places behind QPR, but Orr feels that his new side are good enough to escape the drop.
“It is a fight that I am very optimistic about,” he added.
“When you look around the squad and you see the quality and experience, as well as youth, it only bodes well.”
Kean also looks likely to complete the addition of Marcus Olsson to his squad in another deadline-day deal.

"But, we came through. Obviously there were a lot of changes so it's good to get the result.
"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
